Sanitation worker robbed while working on Fulton Street

A Waste Management driver picking up trash was allegedly robbed by three assailants shortly after 6:30 a.m. this morning.

Police responded to the 200 block of Fulton Street where they found the man with a bleeding and swollen left eye.

According to a report, the driver told authorities he was approached by three males wearing all black and in stocking caps. One subject asked to bum a cigarette to which the driver complied and turned around to go toward the cab of his truck.

When he turned back around, he was struck in the face and fell to the ground. The report says while the man was on the ground, one assailant “jumped on him and held him down, another kicked him and a third grabbed his wallet out of his back pocket.”

The men ran toward E. North Street and were not located by police who checked the area. The worker told police he was fine and did not need a doctor. While searching the area, police found the man’s wallet roughly 30 feet away with all money and items in tact.

No suspects have been named.
