Daughter of A-Town tech director on leave among District 276 school board candidates

As the District 276 school board heads toward elections this spring, one candidate vying for a seat is interested in multiple district issues, including one that involves her father’s leave of absence from the district.

Brittany Terwilliger was one of seven candidates to announce a run for the Abingdon-Avon school board, yesterday. 

Terwilliger is a nurse, a former district employee and is the daughter of Mark Rogers, the District 276 director of technology who was placed on leave earlier this year amid a data breach where student grade point averages were changed without authorization. 

In August, Rogers was charged with three counts of felony eavesdropping to which he pleaded not guilty, Superintendent Chad Willis resigned and some district residents questioned who was to blame for making changes, largely pointing the finger at a corrupt administration. 

Terwilliger tells WGIL mending relations between the board and the community is a goal of hers.

“The stuff with my dad has definitely opened my eyes to the lack of transparency with the district,” Terwilliger says. “I would definitely like to get on board and help change that for the community.”

But Terwilliger also says she wants to re-gear the district’s focus toward students.

“Having worked at the school for five years, I have a huge relationship with most of the students and I want what’s best for them,
