The Galesburg contractor wanted for failing to appear for a Warren County court date on a home repair fraud charge was arrested, late Friday.
Galesburg police confirmed today that they apprehended 36-year-old Christopher Nickas in the 800 block of East Fifth Street shortly after 9:30 p.m.
A warrant was issued for Nickas’ arrest, Thursday, when he did not appear for a morning court appearance. After arriving in the afternoon to explain why he had missed the date, court staff explained a warrant had been issued for failing to appear, at which point, Nickas fled.
Nickas faces a single count of home repair fraud. The Warren County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday that Nickas had a pending escape charge, but according to the state’s attorney’s office, that charge has not been filed at this time.
Bond is set at $15,000 for Nickas, who has since been extradited back to Warren County from the Knox County Jail. He was arrested along with Jeffrey Larson who was also arrested on a warrant for home repair fraud. His bond is set at $1,500.
