Longtime local newspaper publisher dies at age 91

Pete Creighton of Galesburg died last week. He was 91 years old.

A newspaper man, Creighton became editor and publisher of the Galesburg Evening Post.

At the age of nine, he started working for the Galesbug Post.

Creighton became editor of the Post in 1959 until he retired in 1997. He was also editor of the Knoxville Journal.

His wife Marie Therese Padilla, also wrote columns for the Galesburg Post and Knoxville Journal. She died in 2010.

Creighton served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He went to Knox College and graduated from Colorado College in 1949.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where he was a member.
