Your weekend: Farmer’s market winding down and early voting ramping up highlight this weekend

There are a number of events available for Galesburg residents to take part in this weekend. Tomorrow morning and next Saturday are the last two days planned before the farmer’s market season ends at the end of the month.

Vendors at the farmer’s market offer foods from vegetables to cookies to meats. People can also purchase home decorations, jewelry and crafts and LINK cards are accepted.

The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon and is located near the downtown historic downtown shopping district.

From May to October, the market is held in the parking lot on Simmons Street between Kellogg and Seminary Streets.

In another weekend event, a prayer and “get out the vote” event is taking place Saturday at Standish Park on West Tompkins Street.

The event, called Pray Vote Pray, starts at 10 a.m. and people can early vote on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Co-organizer Pam Davidson says the event is non-denominational and non-partisan.

“This is something that we’re coming together as Knox County people who just love our nation and have a want for peace,” Davidson says.

Davidson says there will be a prayer for the nation and the choir from Allen Chapel AME Church will sing.

Early voting extends through November 7th. Extended voting hours, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., are available Monday through Friday for city of Galesburg residents starting November 1st.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 8th, Election Day.
