Two juveniles arrested for armed robbery at car wash

Galesburg police say two 17-year-old males were arrested on armed robbery charges in a three person stick up job involving another suspect at large.

Around 6:40 p.m. yesterday, a 28-year-old Galesburg man told police he had been robbed at gunpoint at WaterWorks Car Wash on S. Whitesboro St.

The man told police he was robbed of the rental car he was washing as well as some smaller items like $100 cash, his cell phone, wallet and visa card.

According to a police report, video evidence of the incident shows three males approach the stall on foot. One of the males arrested drew the gun. The victim then ran away as the suspect took his car and departed northbound in the vehicle.

The other males departed on foot and on a bicycle, as well.

Police would later track down both of the juveniles who are now in custody. The 17 year old who yielded the weapon has been charged with felony armed robbery with a firearm. The other minor was charged with armed robbery.

Both await juvenile detention hearings and a warrant has been issued for the third suspect.
