Tucker-Lockhart resigns as United Way executive director

The executive director of United Way of Knox County announced her resignation today after working as the head of the non-profit for more than 10 years.

Ann Tucker-Lockhart has stepped down and a United Way news release says a search for her replacement will begin shortly.

No official reason was cited for Lockhart’s departure. The local United Way branch has faced tough times as of late. This past year, the organization fell $44,000 short of their $350,000 fundraising goal.

That ending deficit followed a two-month campaign extension.

UWKC board representative Robby Dunn says “organization shined under Tucker-Lockhart’s leadership” and that she was willing to step up during a tough time in the organization’s history.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library and 2-1-1 Knox County programs were both brought to UWKC under Lockhart’s watch. Lockhart says she is proud of those programs, that she still believes in the organization’s mission and that she wishes the next director the best.
