Pregnant driver air lifted to hospital after Lewistown crash

A motorist who told police she was four months pregnant was air lifted to OSF St. Francis Monday afternoon after being struck by another vehicle in Lewistown.

According to an Illinois State Police news release, 28-year-old Erica L. Lawrence sustained minor injuries but was admitted to St. Francis.

Lawrence was westbound at about 4:42 p.m. Monday and after proceeding from a stop was struck by 49 year old Dana L. Hitchcock on the intersection of East Washington and North Main St.

Lawrence’s vehicle overturned, landing on it’s roof.

Initially Lawrence was trapped in the vehicle with seven passengers, including three adults and four children under the age of seven.

Hitchcock’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier in the front lawn of the Fulton County Courthouse.

She reported minor injuries and was transported to Graham Hospital in Canton and later released. All of Lawrence’s passengers were treated at Graham and also released.

Hitchcock was charged with failure to yield at a stop. Lawrence was charged with a child restraint citation.
