A Galesburg man appeared today in Knox County Circuit Court on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after his Monday arrest.
According to police reports, witnesses saw 58-year-old Theodore Thierry Jr. attack a Moon Tower’s resident Sunday with a folding box cutter.
The victim told officers he was in his apartment drinking with Thierry before the attack. Thierry became angry and brandished the weapon. He then repeatedly tried to stab the victim.
Police observed lacerations to the victim’s chest and left forearm. Officers were not notified until the day after the alleged incident.
Judge Stephen Mathers set bond at $5,000 and appointed a public defender to the case. Thierry’s next court date set for 11 a.m. tomorrow.
