Three fatalities reported in pair of weekend wrecks

A two-vehicle wreck reported Friday afternoon south of Colchester resulted in two deaths before a Saturday morning rollover killed one south of Woodhull.

Illinois State Police say 73-year-old Jean M. Danielson of Colchester and 88-year-old Eilleen E. Rampley of Sutter were air lifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy after Danielson’s Buick drove into the path of a Ford Focus driven by 24-year-old Jennifer E. Lambert of Carthage.

Rampley was a passenger in the Ford along with a juvenile who police did not identify. Both Rampley and Danielson died from their injuries.

Lambert and juvenile passengers in both vehicles were treated at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb for minor injuries.

The wreck occurred at McDonough County Road 600 East and Illinois Route 336.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover in the 2900 block of Knox Road 600 East. The lone occupant, 45-year-old Joseph G. Simpson of Ophiem, had no signs of life at the scene and was pronounced dead by the Knox County Coroner.
