Weekend wreck injures two

A Gladstone man and an Iowa teen were hospitalized Saturday after a wreck in Henderson County.

According to Illinois State Police, a Ford Expedition driven by 61-year-old Edwin L. Cole of Gladstone was northbound on 1200 East when it pulled into the path of a vehicle traveling west on 1050 North.

Cole failed to yield at the intersection. The resulting crash ejected Cole from the vehicle.

The westbound vehicle was occupied by a 16-year-old driver from Stronghurst and two passengers, one being a 15-year-old Burlington, Iowa girl and the other 34-year-old Holly A. Gullberg of Stronghurst.

At the scene, officers found Cole’s vehicle in a deep ditch and the other vehicle came to a rest in a field west of 1200 East.

Cole and the 15-year-old Iowa girl were taken to Great River Medical Center in Burlington for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police charged Cole with failure to yield at an intersection.
