Traffic stop leads to meth arrest

Police arrested a Galesburg man this morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a mobile meth lab.

Police reports show 33-year-old Timothy J. MacKillican was pulled over after 1:30 a.m. today near South Street and Allens Avenue for failing to use a turn signal.

Officers smelled a strong chemical odor common in meth production coming from MacKillican’s vehicle.

Police saw items consistent with a meth lab in a backpack inside the car. Officers took MacKillican into custody and searched the vehicle, finding coffee filters, an HCL generator and a plastic baggie with meth.

The Illinois State Police Meth Response Team continued investigation at the scene. Galesburg police found more meth-related items at MacKillican’s East South Street home.

MacKillican is charged with possession of meth manufacturing materials and production of 15 to 100 grams of the drug. He is held in the Knox County jail on $15,000 bond awaiting a Monday court appearance.
