Galesburg woman arrested on meth charges

Police arrested a Galesburg woman yesterday on meth charges, including meth-related child endangerment.

Ashley A. Claeys appeared in Knox County Circuit Court today via video. The 31 year old faces charges of unlawful possession of meth manufacturing materials, child endangerment and possession of a small amount of the drug.

Assistant State’s Attorney Steve Cichon told the court search warrants were executed yesterday morning at Claeys’s Lincoln Street home.

Officers found items consistent with meth production, including coffee filters and pseudoephedrine, as well as a small amount of meth in a purse belonging to Claeys.

Two children — 2-year-old twins — were in the home where meth was believed to have been cooked.

Judge Stephen Mathers set bond at $200,000 and appointed a public defender to the case.

Claeys graduated drug court last year after a meth conviction.

She is scheduled to appear again in court at 11 a.m. Monday.
