Oak Run breaks ground on $2.8 million clubhouse, expected completion in December

The clubhouse at Oak Run Public Golf Course is undergoing a makeover that when finished will leave the facility with a new bar/restaurant.

Oak Run General Manager Michael Davison tells WGIL the germ of the idea for a new clubhouse was born some time ago.

“We’ve been working on the plans approximately two years,” Davison says. “But initially going back we’ve been talking about the idea for a new clubhouse for at least the last ten years but only in the last two years has it come to fruition.”

The new facility will feature what Davison describes as a “grand entrance”.

He says the design aesthetics will be in line with Oak Run’s “recreational” nature and will include glass, timber frames, wood, steel and vaulted ceilings.

The hungry and thirsty will also want to keep an eye out for the bar/restaurant

“It will be our take or spin on casual dining options but nothing extraordinary,” Davison says. “It will be in keeping with what folks around here like to eat, comfort food.”

Davison says the hope is that club house restaurant will become a dining destination for Galesburg, Peoria and Quad City residents.
