Warren County car chase ends after K-9 apprehension

Warren County deputies arrested a Chicago man last night after a high-speed pursuit ended with a K-9 apprehension east of Monmouth.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Jeffrey J. Henderson was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle, attempting to ram a deputy’s car and leading officers on a chase that ended at the U.S. 34 ramp near the Cameron exit.

After Henderson lost control of the vehicle in an embankment, the suspect ran into the nearby woods. Henderson was apprehended after a police K-9 was deployed.

OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth treated Henderson for minor injury and he was released to the custody of the Warren County Jail.

Henderson is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, vehicle assault and driving on a revoked license.

He is awaiting a first appearance in court. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Warren County Central Fire and Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service.
