A Galesburg man was arrested on a $500,000 warrant for failing to appear in court after a drug sentencing in 2013.
According to police reports, 27-year-old Timothy E. Clewell was spotted in a Pearl Street residence. Officers made contact with people in the home in the early morning hours Wednesday.
Two women were visible through a window along with a man believed to be Clewell. The women refused to let police in.
After about an hour-long standoff, officers received a call from one of the women saying Clewell threatened to kill the women if they let officers in.
Police kicked in the door and took Clewell into custody after wrestling a bottle of alcohol from his hands that he was wielding as a weapon.
Clewell faces a new charge of resisting arrest.
Court records show the $500,000 warrant stems from a 2013 case in which Clewell was sentenced to 180 days in jail for selling a small amount of heroin. He failed to appear for court appearances in the case and had multiple probation violations related to drugs.
