Knox County was ranked as having the 77th healthiest residents of 102 Illinois counties.
The rankings done by The County Health Rankings and Roadmaps program show that a higher percentage of Knox residents smoke and are physically inactive than the state as a whole.
However, the percentage of residents who smoke dropped from 19 to 17 percent and adult obesity went from 29 to 25 percent.
For the sixth year in a row Knox had more instances of teen births than the average Illinois county although the number has been dropping in recent years.
Last year Knox was 69 in the overall rankings.
Henderson County came in at number ten this year with 12 percent of residents being in poor or fair health.
That’s equivalent to what the report calls the “U.S. top performers”.
Topping the list for Illinois? DuPage County who was at the top of the pack for health factors and health outcomes.
