Police seize nearly 500 grams of pot in Amtrak drug bust

Officers arrested an out-of-state man on felony drug possession charges yesterday at the Galesburg Amtrak depot.

Delon T. Breedlove appeared today in Knox County Circuit Court via video for possession of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis and possession of less than 15 grams of a controlled substance.

The 21 year old had a New Mexico address listed, however, he told Judge Scott Shipplett he was from Indianapolis.

Assistant State’s Attorney Sabrina Stroops says police noticed Breedlove acting suspiciously after he left the train.

The suspect was seen walking behind a building while carrying a backpack. When he came back into sight, Breedlove no longer had the bag in his possession.

Police found the discarded backpack and discovered 488 grams of pot in two vacuum-sealed bags.

Once Breedlove was taken into custody, officers found a controlled substance in the form of pills in his possession.

Shipplett set bond at $20,000 and appointed a public defender. Breedlove’s next court date is at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
