Henderson County ambulance treasurer arrested for embezzlement

The treasurer of a Henderson County ambulance service has been arrested for allegedly embezzling $27,000 over a years time.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s department says 29-year-old Misty L. Mitchell of Dallas City was arrested yesterday by the Burlington, Iowa Police Department. 

Investigators were told funds were missing from Mitchell’s employer, the Lomax Ambulance Service, which led to the investigation. Mitchell has been charged with felony theft and a fine of up to $25,000. The theft charge is a class 2 felony worth up to seven years in prison if convicted. 

Mitchell is currently being held in the Des Moines County Jail in Iowa on $50,000 bond. She is waiting to be extradited to Illinois.
