Judge finds Galesburg man guilty of sexual assault

A Knox County judge yesterday found a Galesburg man guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl last year.

Court documents show Bobby Jo Jenkins was found guilty on five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated possession of child pornography.

The sexual assault charges are worth up to 60 years in prison and the child porn charge carries up to 30 years.

According to a Knox County Sheriff’s Department news release, Jenkins was taken into custody following a two-week investigation into allegations that the 44-year-old suspect had sexual contact with a girl under the age of 13 last May.

Child pornography was discovered at the scene of Jenkins’s arrest.

Judge Paul Mangieri presided over yesterday’s bench trial, which began earlier in February.

Jenkins is defended by Moline Attorney Daniel Dalton. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 21.
