Pulitzer Prize winner Jon Meacham announced as Monmouth commencement speaker

Monmouth College has revealed who will be delivering the school’s 2016 commencement address.
The remarks will be given on May 15 by Jon Meacham, a Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian whose latest book, “Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush”, debuted on The New York Times bestseller list in November.

Meacham has an extensive resume of punditry and written works which include biographies of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Roosevelt, George H.W. Bush and Andrew Jackson.

The latter landed him the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Biography for “American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House”.

Meacham is also a regular panelist on “Meet the Press” and MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

He currently serves as executive vice president and executive editor at Random House Publishing and is a contributing editor for Time magazine.

Monmouth President Clarence Wyatt says in a news release he’s especially excited to have someone with such a depth of political and cultural knowledge “in this vitally important election year”.
