Chamber of Commerce goes ahead with search for Executive Director

When the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce fired then Executive Director Steven Brody in late October of last year, it left doubt if he would be replaced or if the chamber would simply restructure.

Chamber Board Chairman Dave Pearson has confirmed that a search committee is “beginning the process to search for an Executive Director.”

However, the specifics on the search have yet to be laid out.

Although the chamber wasn’t initially sure they would be filling the exact position of Executive Director, since Brody’s firing they had to be looking to make a hire of some kind.

Already with a search committee formed, comprised of Candy Webb, Adam Sampson, Steve Browning and Ken Springer, the group has now been directed to go forward filling the specific vacancy Brody left.

The chamber never disclosed the reason for Brody’s firing, merely citing personnel matters.

In the interim, two “long time” employees have been handling the Executive Director duties.
